A boost pressure gauge at the dashboard simply is essential with supercharged cars. All companies that offered supercharger kits for the VW also offered suitable, sometimes branded, pressure gauges for their equipment, well known are the instrument made by Judson or Pepco.
So it’s a little strange that these original boost pressure gauges are that rare and thus expensive. A guess is that, when selling the car with removed supercharger equipment, the boost gauge remained in the dashboard, not to have an ugly hole in it.
All the more we consider it important to offer adequate boost pressure gauges in the style of the old, original instruments. Our gauges measuring range covers vacuum- and boost pressure.
At idle, calm driving and deceleration there is vacuum pressure in the intake manifold; at this pressure the engine behaves as the naturally aspirated engine.
Pushing throttle further, the supercharger starts to produce over-atmospheric pressure and power output raises about proportional to the pedal position, as the boost eliminates windage.
We are offering boost-pressure gauges with three dial designs and at least two diameters:
- Pepco design with white dial, black numerals and four colored ranges
- Judson design with black- / grey dial and white numerals
- MP more-push design with anthracite- / grey dial in the style of the 10/1952 on VW glass-needle Speedometer
The Pepco- and MP- style gauges are available with 63mm and 80mm diameter.
The Judson- style boost gauge is available with 63mm diameter.
Appropriate to the gauges we offer gauge holders of different designs to fix the measuring instruments to the steering column, which was the favorite method during the Split- and Oval-VW era.
Too we are making a triple gauge holder to fit instead of the radio-speaker grille in the style of the Moto Meter holder for Zwitter- and Oval-VWs.
